What is a Gas Proving System?

What is a gas proving system?

A gas proving system is very similar to a gas interlock system.

To comply with current gas regulations and BS6173 a gas proving system and gas interlock system must be fitted in the kitchen.
This system will not allow the gas supply to the appliances to work until the commercial ventilation system is turned on.

A gas proving system is required to reduce the risk of an accidental gas escape when the gas is reinstated because some appliances are not fitted with flame failure devices.
This reduces the risk of kitchen staff being exposed to high levels of poisonous gas combustion fumes.

A gas proving system is required if one or more of the gas cooking appliances are not fitted with FFD's / Flame Failure Devices.

Gas Interlock System

DON'T forget your gas interlock system.

The gas interlock system is one of the most important pieces of equipment in your commercial kitchen. You need to have your ventilation on to get your gas on. If you can't get your gas on you can't cook. If you don't have a gas interlock system OR gas proving system installed into your commercial kitchen you are risking a gas safe registered engineer coming into your restaurant and shutting your business down.
